slog slog slog

still slogging through "Dies the Fire". I know, I read slowly...but what can I say? Four children will put a damper on your available free time.

"Dies the Fire" is not a small book. Thirty of forty pages short of six hundred pages actually. That would be a small book in the "Wheel of Time" series, but a huge novel in general. Also, as i've found to be typical of Stirling...much of the book is just filler crap. Descriptions of crop yields, extraneous feelings of non-essential characters. That sort of thing. Something about his writing though keeps everyone (including me) coming back. Perhaps its the setting? Perhaps its his verbage? Who knows...certainly not I. I'm currently about 2/3 of the way through the book...and a full review will be upcoming.

Perhaps because in my recent past I've collected things to do...I still seem to collect things that interest me at a regular clip. My latest thing is Oblivion modding. I think I'm going to be getting into that pretty soon. Oblivion is a great game and modding it will make me happy.

I've also selected my next book...'Reliquary' by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. Ive only read two books by these guys but both of them were thrill a minute, edge of your seat, cant put them down, supremely crafted masterpieces of modern thrillers. I honestly can't wait!
